IRM Faculty use brain tumor organoids to accurately model patient response to CAR T cell therapy
A team of researchers led by Hongjun Song, PhD, Guo-li Ming, MD, PhD (IRM Associate Director), and Dr. Donald O’Rourke, MD, used lab-grown organoids created from tumors of individuals with glioblastoma (GBM) to accurately model a patient’s response to CAR T cell therapy in real time. Their research, recently published in Cell Stem Cell, showed that the organoid’s response to CAR-T cell treatment mirrored that response of the tumor in the patient.
